Hamburg-based K.D. Feddersen Holding GmbH supports through a follow-up stake in the start-up Biofiber Tech Sweden AB the production upscaling of their material innovation FibraQ®.
Hamburg-based K.D. Feddersen Holding GmbH has, together with other existing shareholders, e.g. Almi Invest GreenTech, completed a follow-up investment in Biofiber Tech, a Sweden-based green tech start-up. The investment enables Biofiber Tech to take the next step and achieve full-scale production of their material innovation FibraQ® as well as to strengthen Biofiber Tech’s personnel resources to realize these goals.
The investment will deepen the strategic partnership between the Feddersen Group and Biofiber Tech. The continued collaboration will focus on sales and marketing for FibraQ® and the FibraQ® compounds, toll compounding as well as new product development projects with the Feddersen Group companies, AKRO-PLASTIC and its branch office, BIO-FED as well as K.D. Feddersen Distribution.
Recently, Biofiber Tech and the Feddersen Group presented themselves as forward-looking partners at Chinaplas, the leading plastics and rubber trade show. The world's first 3D-printed full-size kayak made of wood fibers and recycled plastic compounds was exhibited.
FibraQ® are chemically modified wood fibres and wood fibre compounds that provide optimal compatibility with plastics to achieve the best possible properties in technical applications in injection moulding, extrusion, thermoforming and 3D printing. Hence, FibraQ® can be used as a sustainable alternative in multiple products and applications to reduce global carbon emissions.
“We are excited to deepen our partnership with the Feddersen Group”’ said Eric Zhang, Founder and CEO of Biofiber Tech. “This investment will help us achieve our large-scale production goals needed to meet the market demand and for us to continue to innovate in the green tech space.”
“Striving towards sustainability is a central theme within the Feddersen Group. We take our responsibility seriously. This is what connects us with Biofiber Tech. We are therefore pleased to further and intensively support the development of Biofiber Tech and FibraQ® as a strategic partner that brings many years in the conventional business to the table. Coupled with the innovative strength of Biofiber Tech, we see a chance to expand our portfolio to include further bio-based plastics of the highest quality”
